Raumars welcomes artists to apply for a residence from the fields of visual arts, applied arts, performing arts, design, architecture and music. Residencies last usually from 2 months up to 4 months.

The applicants are expected to present a project plan for an environmental, public or community art project, which will be realized during the residence. The main selection criteria will be the artists’ motivation to work within a social context, the quality of previous art and the proposal. You don't have to have previous teaching experience, but you have to be able to carry out the project. Please include description of a group you wish to collaborate with and a budget in you application. Artists get 300 e in a month for materials.

The accepted artists will get time to practice their own art and an opportunity to co-operate with local institutions according to his/her proposal.

Application time is once a year in springtime. The application deadline for the following year is annually the 15th April (postmark is sufficient).

The residency periods that artists can apply for 2011 are:

1. DECEMBER (2010) - FERBUARY:
Residence for community or environmental art project. (On the first hand this period is reserved for the artist coming thru Pépinières européennes pour jeunes artistes application selected by an international jury.)

2. MARCH – mid MAY:
Residence for community art project in some specified social context. Possibility to have an exhibition of the project at the Lönnström Art Museum studio in April.

3. mid MAY/JUNE - JULY:
We warmly welcome artist working with lace, handcraft and applied arts. Depending on a project there is a possibility/wish to include the project to annual Rauma Lace Week in the end of July.

4. AUGUST – NOVEMBER:
We warmly welcome musicians who could perform at the Rauma Festivo classic music week in early August and work with the music school of Rauma or with schoolchildren and teachers. Depending of the artist’s wishes a possible collaboration with Blue Sea Film Festival in August.

5. DECEMBER:
Residence for art project to be realized more independently. Outcome of the residence can be some kind of a performance in region’s art institution or for example at a home for the elderly.

There is a possibility to apply also for longer period January – May or August – December. All artists can apply for periods 3. and 4. On a primary place are artisans and musicians.

For your application, you need:

• Application form
• Curriculum vitae and documentation of your artwork (format: cd, photo, video, printed portfolios)
• Preferably send digital documentation of the application form (cv, previous art work) and a project plan
• Details of previous community, environmental or public art experience
• Summary of a project plan. Max ½ A4.
